Evolution… A Brompton perspective!

I spotted this #brompton on my run through Hyde Park early this morning. Coming from Cape Town where I believe there are only 2 Brompton bicycles, I amazes to see so many here in London! There will often be 4 or 5 among the cyclists at a traffic light during rush hour! So cool! #london #cycling #running (at Hyde Park)

Take a look! My @30daysofbiking is done! At least one ride every day for 30 days. During this time I had two major press events, some travel, was sick for a week, went on retreat… And loved every moment in the saddle!!!

It rained on a few days. On a few days the wind was howling. Mostly it was perfect weather! I rode some mornings before sunrise, and some evenings after getting back from the airport or an evening meeting. I took my Brompton folding bike in the trunk of my car for Multimodal transport in Stellenbosch and Cape Town. I rode my Moulton, a vintage Raleigh single speed, a borrowed Scott road bike and my trusty Mongoose Canaan Team MTB.

I did road rides, and lots of mountain biking. I commuted to meetings and to teach classes on campus. I rode for fun and for fitness. I rode alone, with friends, with my family and even with strangers. I rode 400 kilometers (about as much as some of my friends do in a week!)

Next year I’ll do it again!

It was wonderful to be one of the joyful community of cyclists riding daily all over the world!

A few pictures of my Moulton Landrover APB (TSR 27). It is a real classic beauty. I put some Schwalbe Tyres on it. I still want to change the stem (silver / chrome), change the grip shifts to shifters, and put road ‘drop handlebars’ on it, and some SPD pedals. All in good time! This evening I did a nice 15km ride for day 25 of 30daysofbiking (and another 15 on my Brompton a little later with the Moonlightmass crew). What a beautiful day! The bike rides like a dream!
